So... the authority is now handed over. That's pretty sweet but it doesn't make our jobs any different. I did take a couple of pictures today cause it seemed like a good idea and everything - here they are.

From the left, Barton, Al, and me...

And here is the flying man... you'd think that it represents the angel gabriel or something but no, it is a statue of a guy who once made wings out of wax, jumped off a high place, and killed himself doing so. Personally, I'd favor memorializing innovativeness that actually works but hey, when in Rome...

The Laffy Taffy massacre of 2004:

Experts conclude that the attack was most likely caused by dilapatated bed syndrome.
So anyways, I offered an Iraqi some ham and bacon today. The two responses to the offer were much like what you'd see if offering someone rat or dog in the US. One guy looked at the meat with a slight amount of disgust. The other had a certain amused curiosity to the offer. While smiling he asked "Khimseer? ... lalalalalala" (khimseer being pig and la being no). I asked again to be sure he wasn't interested enough to try it.
Now the Phillipinos, they'll eat anything. My contractor friend Al was telling me how tasty rat actually was. One guy who was fishing said that there was a group of Phillipinos who were pretty disappointed when they saw him releasing the carp he caught.
BaBoom. Ahh, nothing like artillery booming in the early evening. With that... I think I'll take a nap. Later

I think good old Aaron missed the point a little with the whole support the troops thing but hey, that's ok right? It's the thought that counts in my book.
Speaking of books, I got another Armed Forces edition of the book Wry Martinis by Chris Buckley. So far it's all about the Air Forces which is cool and everything but I can't relate a great deal since I'm in the Army. So maybe it's a bust but hey, it was free. Anyway, back to my random activities online.

Well, my heroes of the week are the Iraqi truckers. While we go out fully armed with automatic weapons and rifles that are among the most accurate in the world, every day they drive without weapons and pray that they don't get targeted. Even though most truckers have sad stories and many have bullet holes through their windshields, they continue to perform their jobs and live their lives with optimistic attitudes. Those that target these individuals are the worst kind of coward. I hope the truckers are remembered and memorialized in the future for their brave acts and contributions to the whole of Iraq. May the cowards be punished eternally.

Welcome again everyone, good to see you're still tuning in. First off, here are some pictures that I found on our intranet:

Wow, it's too bad I didn't get to see this firsthand.

The sky in the California high desert always seemed to look majestic...

And the sunset in CA...

I remember this horned guy was pretty comfortable from the warmth of people's hands.

And... yeah, that is pretty awesome huh...
So, I'm at gate guard over here for the next while. It's not too bad; things stay busy so time goes by quickly. Some other new news, I registered the domain www.fiendcentral.com for a year w/ a web hosting package and am fooling around with some graphic and html tools to throw something halfway professional together.
Right now I'm listening to Maroon 5. It's one of those CDs that's good all around. Also, the band has a really unique and catchy flavor to their music.
My roommate got season 3 of Big Brother and we usually watch a few episodes every night. It's actually starting to get really interesting.
Until next post...
