OK, I haven't updated this for awhile since I've been out in the field. We were rehearsing company level operations such as convoys and searches. Then we went over to Yakima (4 hours east of Fort Lewis) for awhile and did squad level platoon movements - complete with one live fire rehearsal, woohoo! That's only the second time since I've been out here that I've fired live rounds so it was a pretty satisfying experience. In between those two weeks I got an evening off and went to Seattle. I wasn't too impressed, but when I went there, I got this:

these were the guys I was hanging out with:

other people have a crapload of cool pictures too but I haven't gotten them yet.
Soooo, I'm coming home for a couple of days (the 8-10 of Feburary) and that should be cool. I'm going to try getting a lot of friend together for that one, hah. I hear my friend Peltzman is having a b-day party on the 8th so that's a good start to the activities.
Ok, well, maybe I'll update this a little more this weekend - which I hear we have off. Anyhow, adios for now!

Well, Washington State clearly has an inability to clear the roads when a snowstorm hits, so I've had the last few days off. The highlight of the week was definately when we went to Crystal Mountain, which looks like this:

I took a jump towards the end after I had been drinking and sprained my shoulder too. I should've known not to take it since I had an unusual amount of difficulty just getting down to where the jump was at. Hah, live and learn. Remember, snowboarding takes focus...
Anyway, tomorrow is back to the normal infantry crap we've been doing. I heard the bunker we've heading to has a couple of feet of water in it. Desert acclimation at it's best, no?

Brrrrr.... I'm outside snatching up a wireless internet hookup for awhile. This last week has been all about room clearing. We're going through these structure-only building and firing blanks at these Iraqis that they contracted over to the US to help train us. It's repetitious but interesting at least. Suprise, speed, and violence of action baby. That's what its about. Oh well, I'm pretty much going to only have 4 free days total before going over to Iraq - at least by what they're telling us - so I try to relax and do something cool during the evenings.
I'm learning how to read and write Arabic right now (on my own). Arabic has a pretty damned cool alphabet actually - it's all cursive and phonetic. While I don't know many of the words yet, I'm picking up the gist of the language pretty quick.
Later Y'all
