Finally!
After a good year and three months after I started working on my Private Pilot's license, I decided to put in enough time and effort to finish it off. As of today, I passed the final check-ride and am now a real pilot.
Of course, I'm still restricted to the tiny two-seated C-152 until I put more time and effort in maybe upgrading my licensure to a C-172, but I'm glad I've finished up none-the-less.

Come Saturday I'll be zipping around the state by myself. That's right, it is Stage 3 of 3 on the way to my Private Pilot's license, and it's time for my solo cross-country flights. Then, provided I don't kill myself, it'll be off to my final checkride. Once I get licensed, I will be legally able to put my friends' lives at risk. Any takers?

Whenever I take up a new hobby, I'm always impressed with the sheer depth of knowledge out there for specific activities. I just finished my stage 2 checkride for my Private yesterday and it's amazing the breadth of material you need to know to fly. It's understandable since one muck up can have severe consequences for one's well-being, but it sometimes feels a little overwhelming when you're trying to memorize multiple visibility limitations within the 6 different classes of airspace.
